I have two organ recitals coming up...
The first is: August 20th, 2023 Trinity Keyboard Series 2:00 p.m. Trinity United Methodist Church 607 Airport Road Huntsville, AL 35803 Y'all come on by! The second recital is in September, and it is a private event. Tres bougie omg like way rad Prada maaaaane. Gucci. BURRRsatchy. I detest playing predictable organ repertoire. How many more times do we have to listen to the Durufle Suite, or the 6th Mendelssohn Sonata? Do I have to sit through another recital of boring Bach? I don't care if you can play his music- it's boring to me at this juncture in my life. So far, Bach hasn't done much for my finances. I refuse to be a cog in the system of boring and humdrum organ playing. While my skill may be less than some of my colleagues, I have much better taste in non-hackneyed repertoire. One of the more hackneyed pieces that I am playing on Sunday's recital is the 3rd Choral by Cesar Franck. Other than that: Reverie by Wayne Oquine Toccata & Chorale on Darwall's 148th by Albert Travis Fantaisie & Duo by Louis Couperin Choral No. 3 by Cesar Franck From Lay Your Burden Down by Iain Farrington:
Outer Hebrides by Paul Halley Balm in Gilead by Offred ------Just kidding, it's by Joe Utterback (if you get the reference, then, okay- you get a treat when you go to the afterlife) Prelude on Lobe Den Herren by Robert Hebble Prelude on Douglass (When In Our Music God Is Glorified) by McNeil Robinson I think those are all the pieces- I've practiced 17 hours in the past four days. I'm ready to go on vacation. Maw Maw is having a back surgery tomorriow. So, let's keep her uplifted in good thoughts. Henry's skin and eyes are on the mend I reckon. Not terribly impressed by the eye medicines, however, I'm just hoping to stay away from steroids, antibiotics, or surgery...Mercy, he's a high maintenance dog. My house is under construction. The two week job has ballooned into over seven at this point. I pretend I'm just in a different city for a while working- that way I don't get too bent out of shape because my house is a disaster, and I'm figuring out what interior updates to address. Whatever....
